What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique used for the eyebrows. Microblading can be used on someone with little to no eyebrows by creating an illusion of a more defined and fuller brow. Please contact Treuvis to schedule a consult to see if you are a candidate.

To begin, our microblading artist creates and maps out a brow shape based on your symmetry and bone structure with your approval.  Tiny hair strokes are made with matching hair color ink into skin. This process takes 2-3 hours per session. During the session pain is a tolerable discomfort and is done in 2 sessions that are scheduled 6-8 weeks apart.

Due to the pigment fading over time, it is recommended to have a touch up done every 1-2 years to maintain results.

Healing

Immediately following your procedure, the eyebrows will appear to be about 30-50% darker in color and sharply defined. This appearance can last 7 to 10 days while healing. There will be some scabbling, redness, and flaking during this time. It is important to NOT PICK the scabs and to allow the dry skin to fall off on its own so that you can avoid loss of pigment or scarring. The Microblader will go over healing instructions and proper aftercare for the best results. The healing process can take a month as it takes the skin about 30 days to regenerate. Therefore, the 30-day mark is when the true color in your brows will reveal itself.

Who is NOT a candidate

  • Skin Cancer
  • Currently undergoing Chemotherapy
  • Pregnant or Nursing
  • Hemophilia
  • Heart Conditions (will need medical clearance)
  • Dermatitis, Eczema, Psoriasis, Keratosis, Pilaris (pigment will not deposit well and blur quickly)
  • Keloid Scarring
  • Cellulitis
  • Impetigo
  • Staphylococcal Shingles, Warts, & Herpes Simplex
  • Diabetes (will need medical clearance)

Candidate Consideration

  • Skin Type - If you have Fitzpatrick Skin Type (thin, translucent skin) your skin is hypersensitive, and you will most likely not be able to tolerate microblading well.  The same applies if you just have generally very thin skin - it will bleed easily and not retain or deposit pigment well and look blurred.
  • Very Oily Skin – results will not deposit pigment well and will look blurred.
  • High Blood Pressure- May have Excessive bleeding during the procedure and results will not deposit pigment well and look blurred.
  • Thyroid- results will not deposit pigment well and look blurred.
  • Sunburn – If you are sunburn or post sunburn, it’s best to wait until your skin has resumed back to normal and wait until your skin has healed before booking.
  • Previous Permanent Makeup – Consultation required to see if you are a candidate for correction or a touch up.  Clients may have to consider laser removal prior to scheduling.

Medications & Other Services

  • Blood Thinners- Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Coumadin etc.
  • Accutane- most be off of acne medication for at least 1 year as it will have an altered skin condition that will not heal well after the procedure
  • Retinol and Vitamin A- avoid the use at least 1 month prior to their procedure.
  • Eyebrow Growth Serum- Causes extra blood flow to the area resulting in more growth of hair. If you have been using eyebrow growth serum the skin in that area is in a hypersensitive state and will bleed easily. Be mindful to discontinue using these at least 3-6 months before going in for a session otherwise you will instantly bleed profusely.
  • Botox- avoid at least 2 months prior to the procedure.
  • Facial Laser or Chemical Peels- for 1 month prior to the procedure.
